One layer HM card

Can you create a one layer handmade card? It is a simple card, but it is a challenge to use techniques on such cards. There is still a lot of techniques to create a one layer card s.a. embossing, rubber stamping, buttons, etc. Quite a challenge, huh?

The last art journal page swap of this (for December) is there. I choose the prompt: Phenomenal woman. That's me! Words from Maya Angelou. An awesome poem for women; sometimes it helps to read this poem and find the strength in me.

COLD CASE CARD swap

All crafters are inspired by different websites s.a. pinterest, blogs, facebook, stamp companies, etc. We take that inspriration and interpret such a design using our own colors/stamps/sentiments/tools and even materials. The coordinater thought it would be a good swap to so on this swap.

COLD - It will be a Christmas or Winter themed card;
CASE - we will CASE (copy and share everything) a card design from where we got the inspiration, print out the original card & send that to your partner along with the ....
CARD - a regular 4,25 x ,5 inch greeting card with envelope.

I went for a Christmas card with a touch of Winter (can you see the white glitter on the snowflakes and the O)? Sharing the CASE with you; it is such a beautiful Christmas card, created with a lot of time (and love). All credits for this card goes to the link above. If it wasn't for this swap, I would stick with the idea to make this card once.... But this is such a challenge and I did it!

I used different Cricut cartridges for the cuts and an embossing folder for the layer; I added white embossing powder to the snow flakes and the O; finished with red liquid pearls.

Pocketsize Journal/Sketchbook swap #4

Here I shared with you the pocketsize journal I created for this swap. In round 3 I received a pocketsize book from my partner. She really did a good job. I have to create two pages in her book. She used thin paper, but I wanted to make mixed media pages. I did, because I knew the paper would carry acrylic paint if I use less or no water. Here is my contribution to her handmade pocketsize book: a Halloween page (she likes Halloween) and a mixed media page.

Sender's choice - handmade card

This is an easy swap, because it is sender's choice. Okay .... not that easy, because the next step is what kind of card will I make? Michael Jackson said: "This is it!"

Earring swap

I had to make two earrings and send to my partner in the USA. I read her profile to read what she likes and which colours she prefers. She likes goofy dangling earrings. Out of herself she sent me a pm telling me that she is not picky, but she prefers silver opposed to gold. She likes dangly earrings as long as they are not too big. And since I send from The Netherlands she would like to remember that the earrings come from The Netherlands, so she would like the earrings with the colours of the Netherlands flag or something like it.

Well, I never had a request like that before. But I replied that I would see what I have in my stock. I knew I didn't have any blue beads in my stock. So I just created her a beautiful pair of earrings, dangling, but with black beads. The second pair I sent, is a pair of earrings I made a while ago. I also sent her two extra pairs of earrings. She can wear these earrings at any time, because of the colour and there trendy too! I hope she'll like them!

Handmade Postcard - Sender's Choice

The swap description:

Make 1 handmade postcard using sturdy card stock (it's got to make it through the snail mail journey), cardboard or recycled cardboard (like cereal box, just be sure it's clean) for 1 partner. Send naked (no envelope and with a stamp) with a little note to your partner. 

We also had to use a postcard stamp to use on the back of the postcard, so the postcard looks like a store bought postcard on the back.

Here is my postcard sent to the USA:

I used recycled cardboard for my postcard. With the help of a stencil I created the background. I used a circle from old paper to cover that space from stencilling. I used a Close To My Heart acrylic stamp and placed a wooden flower in the middle of the stamped image. Finally I added the greeting on the postcard using foam tape. I finished the postcard using my white gelpen for some white accents.

I didn't took a picture of the back of this postcard. But it has a postcard stamp in the back. And it looks like this.

Card with circles or dots

This is a card with circles and dots. I guess the cards has a circle and the dot is in the middle of the card, yes, the brad:-) Am I being smart, hehehe.... Oh, but the orange patterned paper also has dots. Voila, there are more dots on the card than I thought:-)) The circle is a wheel and it can spin as a wheel. The idea of the circle/wheel comes from the challenge at simplylessismoore.blogspot. I like the moving wheel and I really like the circle and the stripes on it. It is a cut from the Close to my Heart - Artiste cartridge and I used the Artiste clear stamp. It is a simple and easy to make card using layers of card stock.

Summer greeting card

For all these cards I used different cartridges: Create a critter, Forever young, Close to my Heart - Artiste. The greetings on the cards are also from the Close to my Heart - Artiste (you're amazing) and Artbooking (thanks) clear stamp collection.

Just extra card I made for fun. I wanted to play with nice papers and nice Summer colours.

Journal tags

Journal tags are a nice addition to your scrapbook, art journal page or smash book. Smash books are so in, but a lot of my scrapbook pages look more like smash pages. That's why I never thought about buying a smash book I kind of like the idea to create my scrapbook any way I want; so no need for a special smash book. I do like the idea, though. And I love how they make so many different journal tags to play with. I always loved to keep certain receipt, tickets and other ephemera to memoir those beautiful days. I got quite a lot of free journal tags from the internet, printed and cut them out.

The 4x6 inches journal tags can be a bit too big; I like the smaller 3x4 inches journal tags.

I made a couple by using wallpaper. I adhered wallpaper to card stock and I used washi tape to decorate the tags.

Notecards and a bookmark for a swap. Every item had to have a positive quote.

An owl

Watercolor painting illustrating an owl and behind him a leaf. Painted on Canson mixed media paper and I used watercolor paints. I do not use my watercolor paints a lot. So for a challenge I join specific swaps.

Pretty in pink

Sometimes I deliberately avoid using pink on my projects. I am not a very pinkish girl, but pink is a nice colour to perk things up. For the Pretty in pink challenge at scrapbitzcopics.ning.com I certainly have to mix and match markers and paper with the colour pink. I created two cards; yes, I can't deny it the pink made me go on ... and on.... hahahaha. This challenge fits also in the Anything goes challenge at notrealstamps.blogspot.com. Well .... here we go:-)
