Easy postcard

A last project for today; a handmade postcard to be sent to the UK. The image is a free image from Saturated canary ; coloured with my copic markers. I kept this postcard easy, so no embellishments and no greetings on this card. I like the soft colours of the background and the girl attracks more intention.

Nice combination: watching the Olympic games while making art journal pages

A beautiful Sunday, I hope for you too, and isn't it amazing to see how the whole world play, work, create and compete together? It is all mixed in the Olympic games.
Using words that are inspiring and meaningful to me is not easy to use as a theme for my art journal page. This time I used words related to my work. I like to draw faces, so inspired by the workshop of Natasha May I created my first page one and a half week ago. Not knowing how to proceed I left the page aside. Today I picked the page up and finished it with the following word as theme: love.

This second page is based on the word "trust". At dolldreams.ning Adriana gave a free workshop "Junk journal" to all members. A lot of members joined this workshop and a lot of beautiful journals were created. Using the techniques I learned at this workshop I created this page.

These pages are for Vicky (USA) for the Art journal page swap - prompt August, which I host @ swap-bot.com. I host these swaps monthly, started in February. It gives every participant the chance to collect two AJ pages each month to end up with a collection of twenty two art journal pages this year. These pages could be bound in a wonderful art journal containing different pages from people from different parts of the world. Great, isn't it??

My first handmade card challenge

At the blog of mojomonday there is a card sketch on every Monday to share with followers. It is the Moho Monday 251. I haven't tried such a challenge before and I am more worried on how to enter my created card on the blog. Gonna give it a try ... wish me luck:-)) Here is the sketch.

So, I am gonna give it a try. I didn't have a hard time to create the card for this challenge. The base card is cut with my Cricut Expression. I coloured the face of this rubbernecker image a couple of weeks ago. First, I coloured her clothes; all with my Copic markers. Then I went through my paper pallets and found these soft coloured patterned paper and I also found matching cardstock. It was a bit searching for a stamp which fit on the small piece of cardstock, but luckily I found one. I stamped the sentiment with Stampin' Up inkpad - chocolate chip - to match the background of the card. I hope you enjoy:-)

Inky handmade postcard

Didn't I wanted a real Summer? Well, we had it today! Really warm weather and I enjoyed it as much as I can, hoping I can still feel it during the Winter, hahaha. Here a postcard for a postcrosser; this postcard will travel to Hong Kong. I played a lot with two colours of inks. The image is from sweetpeastamps and again coloured with my copic sketch markers. the border of this image is also coloured with inks. I really tried to blend the colours, which, I think, went very well. Finished the postcard with paper ribbon; I did a bit of art journaling on the right side using rubber stamps from Docrafts the "Urban stamps" collection and Stampin' Up inkpads. And since the postcrosser had her B-day, I also stamped "Happy Birthday". The image is not on top of the card, but as a matter of fact lies in it.

I'll get a cold bath and will try to have a good rest☺ Thank you for visiting:-)

Made in July

A Rubbernecker rubber stamp colored with my copic markers and embellished with a flower and ribbon. The gray basic card correspondents with the inside of her coat and her shoes.

The challenge was not to use the traditional boy and girl colors. Meaning I could not use blue for the masculine card or pink for the feminine card. I also had to make matching gift cards for these handmade cards.
This nice fairy is from sweetpea stamps. Love her dress! She is stamped on "Make'ít'Colour" blending card stock. The green Stampin' Up card stock correspondents with her mask. A brad holds the paper flower together and the swirl is cut with my Cricut using the Close To My Heart Art philosophy cartridge. The background is colored with prisma watercolor pencils.

Some glitter added to her beautiful wings:-D

A stamp from The Greeting Farm collection "Creepin Kit". Swirl is cut with the Close To My Heart Art Philosophy cartridge. The background is colored with prisma watercolor pencils. Stamped on "Make'it'Colour" blending card stock. Base card stock from Stampin' Up.

I would love to enter to some challenges, but still wondering how it works. I still have to practise on coloring with my copics, but I think I make some good progress☺

Mail art challenge ~ Purple and junk journal

A last post tonight. A mail art to be send tomorrow. We are free to decide how we would create our mail art. It could be a envelope, a cup, whatever mail art. Another thing beside the colour to consider in this swap; it must be be send naked and as mail art. I decided to make a page and send it as it is. I left space for the stamps. A big eyed girl on mixed media paper with a lot of purple. Medium used: acrylic paints, ink pads, rubber and acrylic stamps, copic multiliner.

This mail art envelope was created a couple of weeks ago. Kind of vintage and I don't know where the idea came from .... I had some vintage emphera and I just went on. I mostly used distress photo ink (Tim Holtz) and I finished the whole envelope with a layer of varnish. This is my first real vintage project.

At dolldreams Adriana give away a junk journal tutorial. All members received a link to join this workshop for free. As Adriana said "it is Saturday, ladies, so no excuses and start your creating your junk journal". I'm rarely in time with following workshops, so this was a real kick in the butt for me and it worked:-))

Resent of a handmade card

Sometimes mail just disappears. In June I sent a handmade greeting card to Belgium, being partner in one to one swap. This card never reached my partner and this morning, since it was raining, I had time to create this awesome card. The card with the ribbon is a tag. The image is colored with copic markers and prismacolor watercolor pencils. It is a sweetpea rubber stamp and the border is punched with a Martha Stewart punch. Now hoping that this handmade card will travel safely to my partner in Belgium☺

A journal page for Liz

The Round Robin at milliande.ning.com started with seventeen artist. Things happen in life and we are now with fifteen artists (I think). Sad enough one art journal (which is a very beautiful journal). We still wanted to maker her pages so she can bind and make her journal. I played on both sides so I created two art journal pages for her:-) I finished the page today and it will be mailed tomorrow and start its travel to the UK. So this page will travel around the world before being united with Liz. Here is my page for Liz.

A real mixed media creation and I can't remember all the medium I used. Some of the media I can recall: acrylic paints, gold foil, ink pads, stencils, prisma watercolor pencils, glimmer mist, etc.

The theme of Liz' journal is "Lyrics" coming from her love for Soul Blues. My lyric is from the song of the famous singer Mavis Staples "In times like these" ~ In times like these we need to be strong". Now I remember that I forgot to add an "s" after in the word time.... forgive Liz and please correct if you wish:-D

I just went on and created a second pages "Dreams or Memories". Don't ask me why I did this theme .... I just played and this is the outcome. Love the combination of colours ... what about the story of the camels? Well, I have never been in a country with camels as you see on this page. So this page is totally out of my imagination, hehehe.

As promised

As promised a couple of times I finally have a picture of the back of my handmade postcard; I created this postcard today. Love to send my postcard looking like a store bought postcard. The image on the postcard was coloured a while ago. It is a Sarah Kay image and I used my copic markers to colour her. Since I coloured her a while ago, I forgot which copics I used.... I layered the image on decorated card stock and decorated the postcard with two lines of ribbon. I wanted to use the colours of the image on my card, so the ribbon is blue which suits her dress/skirt and the card stock of the sentiments correspondents with her bandana. Lovely? For the sentiment I used my Sizzix big shot and double dies from Hobby voordeel (yeah, a Dutch brand). The sentiment is adhered and altered on foam tape. The back of my handmade postcard is of recycled card stock. Love to work with those boxes to create nice pages or postcards:-) The sentiment is from Whiff of Joy. The "hello" is just a part of the original sentiment saying "Hello shunshine!", but I only needed the first part of this sentiment. Did not want the sunshine ... lol ... This postcard is for another postcrosser and what do we say then??? Happy postcrossing!!

This postcard will be sent to The Netherlands.

More than acrylic paints

Hello everyone,
From early in the morning until about two o'clock it was raining here. Nothing special you'll say, but I could not start my jogging hour:-)) Nope, I will not go jogging out in the rain ..... don't like to get wet, hehehe. What do I have today?? Some old projects made in June and a handmade card I worked on today. More than acrylic paints on an art journal page, since we had to make the page touchable. So I embossed, cut white felt and added acrylic paints and Prisma coloring pencils to the page. The white fields are pieces of felt. The black fields are black embossed fields. The green leaves on the image her had are also embossed. For the second page I drew and colored a sunny face since we supposed to have summer (wish we had a real summer....). I like these pages so, so much. For a few days my partner didn't respond to my request to send me her address. Am I bad when I then hoped she would not sent me her addy ..... feeling bad ...:-(( But I am happy she did, so these pages will leave for their trip to the USA:-D

Prompt: Tactile textures. Make your page deliciously touchable.

Prompt: Solstice: What does this season promise?
It is the first day of Summer or Winter depending on which hemisphere you reside in.

I created a handmade card for a colleague, who doesn't feels well and I wanted to spoil her with a handmade card. A challenge for me was to use the many card stock I have. It's more as an instruction; not only buying, but also using my nice card stock☺It also helps to create a card with more depth and motion, because of the colours in coordination with the embellishment, etc. The flowery layer card stock is cut with the Cricut, using the Close to my Heart Art Philosophy cartridge. The nice border is created using a EK success punch. The pearls are added using Viva Pearl Pen, colour 102. The image is a rubber stamp from Sweetpeastamps of the set Meredith Dillman sheet 1, plate 76. This set is a set of four fairies and they are so sweet to colour. I used my Copic markers for her. She is stamped on GinaK Pure Luxury cardstock. Isn't she lovely???

Close up of the fairy

Hair: E43, 47
Skin: E21, 13, 11, 00, 000
Dress: YG23, 25, 61, 63, YR14, 16, 18
Wings: BG53, 70

Finally sharing two more handmade cards with you: a baby card and a "to you from me" card.
The baby card is for neighbors with their newborn baby girl. In June I created the green card, but still have no one to send it to. I just start a new card instead of looking around if I already have one.... recognize that???☺

Cut with my Cricut Expression using the Wild card cartridge. The cardstock is from the United Office Maxi-Farbkarton block; it is 100% recycled paper and the colours in this block are very vivid; the patterned paper is from the Daisy Dandelion A5 paper Collection; lovely patterned paper is this collection. I also added some pearls with my Viva pearl pen 501 and a cute small heart gem in the middle of the large flower.

The green card stock is from Papicolor 12x12". I cut the circles with my Coluzzle. The flower is coloured with Stampin' Up markers and I added some glitter on the flowers. The greeting is from American Crafts "Sentiments". The white card stock is embossed with my big shot embossing machine using a Cuttlebug embossing border "With Love". I used a punch to create the nice border.

That's my portion for today. Wishing you all a great Sunday☺

Pages in my Moleskine journal

Just blogging some pages in my Moleskine journal. These pages were made in the past; most of them in 2011. I coloured the first page you see here under last week.
