My memoir to Maya Angelou



A true and personal inspiration

I often use her meaningful words, quotes for my art journal pages. Some of her inspirational quotes:

I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings
The free bird leaps
on the back of the wind
and floats downstream
till the current ends
and dips his wings
in the orange sun rays
and dares to claim the sky.

But a bird that stalks
down his narrow cage
can seldom see through
his bars of rage
his wings are clipped and
his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings
with fearful trill
of the things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill for the caged bird
sings of freedom

The free bird thinks of another breeze
and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees
and the fat worms waiting on a dawn-bright lawn

Card Beginning with "B"

This swap is a continuing swap using the alphabet. So we make one card for one partner. The card will start with the letter B. The card should be no smaller than 3 x 3 inches and we should include an envelope for the card. We have to use one of the following embellishment on the card: ribbon or brads (paper or metal).

We can choose the following themes:
Butterfly, bears, bees, balloons, bottles, backgammon, birds, banana, bluffs, blue water, boat, barber, and so on............ I choose to make a bird card using the Cindy Loo cartridge.

My partner likes the colour red, so I made sure I used red on the card. I forgot to add the last requirement mentioned in the swap description, which is the embellishment. I will add a brad to the card.

Handmade envelopes

It is fun to make your mail more personal by making a envelope for your mail. You can also make a matching envelope for your cards or mail. It is easy, does not take a lot of time and you save money. I use pages of magazines and, patterned paper. It is an easy process and not much is needed. Paper, scissors and glue. There are a lot of templates and devices to make envelopes. I have a scoreboard, but most of the time I eyeball it or match my mail to the paper fold and cut. If the paper is tin, you can also adhere some printer paper on the inside of the front and back of the envelope.

Art journal page - sender's choice

An art journal page to make and I am clearly in my period of drawing and painting big eyed girls again;-) So here is my art journal page with a nice quote on the page. I hope my partner enjoys the page. Painted on card board using acrylic paints, Copic multiliner and Stabilo white pencil. Measurements: 5x7".

Woman: Create a PC

This postcard is for the celebration of Mother's Day. We celebrate all mothers and women everywhere by creating a postcard with a woman or women on it Here is my postcard for mother's day. I salute
all mothers and women♥♥

The image is a rubber stamp from Rubbernecker. and I coloured the image with Copic markers. he skirt is paper pierced. The postcard is made out of card board and the back is like an industrial postcard. I used acrylic paints, modelling paste (the hearts), patterned card stock, gems and an nice push pin to embellish the card. Measurements: 4x6". Postcard to be send naked to the USA.

Halloween Mini Painting swap

Hello,

Today I have a painting to share. As the title of this post says it is a Halloween painting. I made this painting based on a tutorial on youtube. He did not do a Halloween painting, but I used his tutorial for this theme. The sunset and the tree make a good background for this Halloween painting, don't you think?

It is a canvas painting and I used matte acrylic paints (black, orange, yellow and white) with quite some water. I cut out canvas and adhered it to card board; measurements: 5x7". That makes the painting less heavy to send abroad. Destiny: USA.

Intro to Mail Art: Hand Crafted Postcard

The swap says: Brighten up the day of your partner AND postal workers by sending one handcrafted postcard!

It has been a while since I drew and painted a big eyed girl. I love the postcard size to paint, so I just did my thing. I hope this postcard can brighten up the day of my partner and the postal workers

12 Tags of 2014 - February

The next tag to create is the Tim Holtz tag of February. Yes, we are catching up on these tags :D

A nice thing about the center piece. I used an Close To My Heart autumn clear stamp and my first attempt to add white chalk or white pencil to it failed. So I took the same card stock and stamped it with Versamark embossing ink. well, I guess I can't do the white pencil or chalk technique ... LOL...

12 Tags of 2014 - January

My attempt to do the Tim Holtz tag for the month January.

What did I do? I took some acrylic paint (grey), added a lot of water and did the Tim Holtz's technique, I stained the tag with the watered acrylic paint and mist some water on the tag. I don't have any metals from his brand and I also don't have his die cuts.
What I have is some metal paper/card stock. I used my Cricut - Art booking or Artiste cartridge - to cut out the wheels and circles. I even cut out a clock (Artise cartridge) and used it as a mask. You can see that I embossed the circle with a Fiskars embossing folder. I buffed the metallic pieces with a black Close To My Heart ink pad.

Instead of the rub-ons I used my acrylic stamps to stamp the numbers on the tag. I used a charcoal pencil an draw a thick black line around the circle. I finally took a quote of my collection of the Yoghi tea quotes and added it to the tag with staples.

I pretty much used all his techniques and did almost all his steps to create this tag. I hope my partner will enjoy it. Shipping to the Canada.
