Master board pieces

For a swap @ swap-bot.com I created master board pieces. And oh, oh, oh.... I think I went overboard! Keeping a balance between background colors and stamping is the key, I think. Still nice pieces, though-_-

The idea is to create a background to use for your projects. A nice background for a handmade greeting card or to use in your art journal. Think of more ideas:=)

I used Gina K. Pure luxury card stock, which measures 8,5 x 11 inches. I used my Tim Holtz ink blending tool. For inking I used several Stampin' Up and Close to my Heart ink pads; you can see the colors in the background. I used quite a lot rubber stamps. These were stamped with Memento black ink. Then I cut the 8,5 x 11 inches card stock in four equal pieces with my Your Story paper cutter. I ended up with four different pieces of master board. Very nice and unique, since every piece is very different.

I like this idea and I wondered how it would work out with alcohol inks. I know that glossy paper is used for these inks, but I don't have any of it. So I took photo paper, which is also glossy. I took care while trying this out and I ended up with nice pieces of master board. In a next post I will load up a handmade card crated with a piece of this master board out of photo paper using alcohol inks from Tim Holtz.

One this piece I created dots on the photo paper. I used Tim Holtz alcohol inks: Caramel, Stream and mixatives Silver.

Then I tried to create kind of stripes on the photo paper. On top of that I stamped another layer using the  Rubbernecker rubber background stamp (French script) with distress ink (vintage photo). I will use these master board pieces for making cards.

You can use it as one piece or you can cut it into smaller pieces .. inchies of just little squares to create what you like. Make your master board pieces and enjoy!

Little nephew's birthday card

Making pictures at night seldom have a nice result. This is the best of pics I made of the birthday card for my nephew. I embossed the stars with clear embossing powder. The rubber stamp I used to emboss is from Rubbernecker.com. I then went with a sponge covered with ink over the star to create the yellow background. To finish off I rubbed the color off the embossed parts. For the background of the stars I used Stampin' Up Yoyo Yellow. With a Martha Stewart punch I created the lace ribbon, cut out of paper. With the help of two golden brads I keep the "ribbon" in place. The image Tyler from The Greeting Farm rubber stamp set 'Creepin Crew collection'. I colored him a while ago with my Copic markers and he was waiting to be used. The patterned card stock is from the Bo Bunny 'Blast Off!' collection.

Sweet thing

A postcard meant to send, but my daughter thinks I should not send it..... And now? I don't know ... I am thinking ... what to do?

I created this postcard with the theme of the challenge @ scrapbitzcopics.ning.com. The challenge is all about ** Girly time**. The color on the image must be girly and feminine. And since I am in time to join the challenge, I'll enter this postcard for the challenge. I coloured this image a while ago with Copic markers. She is a digistamp of the Saturated Canary collection. I love there images and I have a collection for their cute girls. The back of this postcard is as an original postcard. Cute, isn't she?

Another card is here on my table, but I don't have a picture of it. It is a masculine boy birthday card. Well, more about it tomorrow, I guess♥

The Beauty of Nature

In the round robin named 15 artist, 15 journals, 15 months I added my page for Marie in her beautiful book. The theme of her art journal is 'The Beauty of Nature'. Now I have these rubber stamps of different human beings. So I interfered these images on the page with animals and flowers (flora & fauna), the blue represents the sky, yellow the sun. I really like this page♥☺

February challenge

My creations for the February challenge @ dolldreams: Friendship. The challenge started a while ago. A couple of weeks ago I found time to complete this challenge.

The page is created with acrylic paints, prisma color pencils, alphabet stamps and stencils from Crafter's Workshop (Balzer Designs) and Artistcellar.

Sweet dreams

Last year I participated in a chunky page swap. I created a sleeping girl. I like it so much and I decided to make one for myself. No, it is not exactly the same painting. This is a different 5x7" page. Isn't the duvet cute?

In September 2012 I draw this lady. Didn't know which colour to use. I wanted a pretty lady. Page finished and done. I .... am satisfied:-))

Is He there?

In the past weeks I was too busy. Snowy weather gave me the opportunity to stay at home. The spare time I had I used to play in my art journals. I did some art journal pages and drawings. Quite a few drawings; some of them so need some colour. The pictures I took are poor, but I'll post them. Other pictures will follow soon:-)

The following pages are based on prompts. The first prompt: Where did you lived as a child: which town, country, suburb, etc.? I grew up in Surinam, a country in South America. Last year, in November, I went for a second vacation in 2012. Love the weather, there!

Prompt 2: What are your views on religion?

This last art journal page had to have a mouse and a house on the page. I wondered if a mouse could be men's best friend? I wonder ...

All the page are created on 5x7 inch pages, using cardboard of food packages.

With acrylic paints, prismacolor pencils and a clear stamp I created this page. I still have to make up my mind whether I will add some journaling or a quote.

January challenge

This is my page for the January challenge @ dolldreams. The challenge is to use shades of gray to colour your drawing. I created a doll on 5x7 inches Aquarelle arches watercolor paper. It is a 100% cotton and hot pressed paper. I used my Copic markers. Used markers: W00, W1 and W3.

Paintings on A4 canvas pages

It is Winter. Today we had snow. It is cold .... This painting symbolizes my desire for some sunny, warm weather (background). The tree symbolizes the ark days in the Winter. No complaints about the Winter, but warm weather (no, not hot weather!) just feels more comfortable:-))

Flower card

My first art journal pages in 2013

First prompt: Could you predict next year, 2013? What do you think would happen (in your life, in your family, in your environment, in the world?

Second prompt: How did you spent last month? What did you enjoyed the most last month?

These are my first pages of 2013; sent to the UK. My partner already received the pages. The journaling on the pages says a lot. I hope 2013 will bring some changes in work and house/home. It is time for me to move on another job and another home. No disaster if these changes are not achieve, but these are changes I would like. I need new challenges in my daily work and I need a home with more space.
On the second page I expressed the things I enjoyed them most last month. I love the feeling of sharing, happiness and joy around Christmas time.

My daughter  went with her school class to an art exposition one of these years (?) and they received this book to answer question about art. "Kunst Kijken" means "Watching art". I thought it was such a waist to throw this book away since the cover is very sturdy and the pages sure could carry paint. gesso and water. Well, the book proofed itself!:-D Some projects I created in this book, yes another art journal book for me!

I always wondered how they painted these characters. Well, I had the chance to experience and I like how the girl came out.

DIY foam stamps

Buying stamps to use when making handmade greeting cards, postcards or in your art journal can end in a very expensive investment. I have invested in quite a few rubber and clear stamps. Most of my clear stamps are the cheap ones I find in a local store. It is a lot and I now change my habit into using these stamps. Although I have quite a some stamps I never had the need to buy rubber stamps to use on my art journal. And the most of these stamps are larger and therefor expensive.

Now, there are so, so much tutorials on youtube.com showing us how to make your own stamps. So I gave it a try! And it is done in minutes, especially if you make small stamps on a square of 3x3 inches. Well, I didn't measure my stamps; didn't see the need to measure. I have foam at home, so why not try it?? Here my collection DIY foam stamps. One tip: you don't have to make large stamps. I find smaller easier to use. Give it a try!!

I used Aleene's Tacky glue (watered down!) and some card stock from an empty Quaker Oats box. By the way: I used them as you can see and they do an awesome job! Check out my DIY stamps.

Rosie is the challenge of the month June. The mission was to use any kind of markers. I did used the template we got from Adriana and to be honest it saved me time to draw the dollie first. Coloured with Copic markers. I added decorative tape around my borders to finish the page.

Another Challenge

I did another challenge, the May challenge on dolldreams.ning.com. Hihihi, today I created mine. In fact I finished  three challenges. Challenges of the months August and September are also done. The May challenge was to create a black & white dolldreams doll. No use of other colours allowed. I used the black Tombow and my waterbrush. After the May challenge I started the August challenge and I had to use a black ballpoint pen (I used my pencil), draw a mermaid on an old newspaper (I used a page of a magazine) and use some watercolour markers (like Tombows) for the background. The last challenge I did tonight is the August challenge. The challenge was to create a beautiful matryoshka Russia doll. Acrylic paints were used to colour this doll and I used templates from Crafters workshop and Spellbinders and inkpads to create the nice background. I did not used the template. In fact I created my matryoshka almost a year ago, but I never finished it. I could not decide which colour, etc. Until this challenge and I am really satisfied.

I still have three challenges to go: June, July and November. I'll get there, for sure! No pictures tonight; They came out quite dark and they don't look too well. I'll have to try it another day.

Simply made (Christmas) cards

My daughter is in Suriname for her internship. A good reason for me to make her greeting cards. I thought it would be fun for her to receive some international snail mail from her mom. An image of sweetpea stamps coloured with Copic markers. I coloured this image a while ago and I do not remember the colour combination I used. For a 3-D effect I adhered the image with foam dots. Now lets hope this postcard will make a safe trip to Surinam, without being damaged. The greeting is an clear stamp from Hero Arts; the text ' with love' is from Papermania. The swirl is an clear stamp from Inkadinkado (patterned bugs collection).
The small bird and flowers are also stamped and these are clear tamps from Papermania Chatsworth vintage collection. This card is also simply made, since I only added text, swirl, little bird and flowers and the rub on in the corner above.  That´s all!

Too busy these days and I created these easy made Christmas greeting cards. The card stock has so many patterns, so layering would cover the patterns. No need to do that. These are postcards and will be send as such. I finished the back of these postcards as a regular store bought postcard. I did use my Copic markers for the images. The clear stamp images are as the patterned card stock from an unknown brand. To finish the front of the postcard I added a tag, distressed the tags and stamped a greeting on the tag.

With simply made I refer to the card stock, which is beautiful so there is no need to layer with other card stock. Adding an image and a greeting and voila!

More pages

On this Sunday I had to let my mind flow, so I my acrylic paints and my Moleskine art journal. A while ago, somewhere in April, I had the opportunity to take part of challenges on dolldreams.ning. Life took much of my attention and I postponed these challenges. Well, if I start with the April challenge today, you can guess the rest, huh? The April challenge has the theme "Green Spring". It is Winter and I am dreaming of a warm sunnyy:-D No, I do not miss the insects, but butterflies are nice to see in the Summer. This is my page:

A second challenge for December, the Christmas Angel challenge. We supposed to make a Christmas card with the image. I did not drew this one by myself. We received the doll from our teacher and we have her permission to use the image. To safe time I just printed the image and coloured it with my Copic markers.

I do not like this Copic marker paper, but I noticed that it does not bleed. The pictures is not the best I took, but I'll have to do with this one:-))
